A very traditional Finnish thing is a sauna. It seems to be so popular that even student accommodation has one that you can reserve for yourself. I’m not going to talk about this one though. My theme is a public sauna near the lake Kaukajärvi. We visited it on Tuesday during the second week of our stay here. It was way hotter than we expected so the possibility of swimming in a cool lake water was more than welcomed. Trying to keep up with trained Finnish people in a crowded small space was a challenge.
Heating up the whole body relaxes the muscles and increasing endorphin levels in blood. It also helps to improve the immunity system so sauna is really good for both body and mind.

“Im not very used to sauna, so it was a bit challenge, but we managed to stay inside for 15 minutes. It was amazing experience!”
