During our stay here we were exposed to many different kinds of culinary art. School canteen was a pleasant surprise on which we will look in a different post.
Outside of the school we attended for example group dinner in Zarillo where we had burgers and fries. Western food was highlighted by a wild west theme.
More traditional food was introduced to us on Friday, when we stopped to have some Munkki. Soft texture combined with spices, namely cardamom, and sugar crystals created a delicious snack. Personally I wrote down the recipe, since I am not able to bring those back to the Czech republic in my backpack and putting cardamom in dough is not a common technique in Czechia.
Mentioning sweets, I can not forget Sisu. Understanding the meaning of the word is difficult for us foreigners but understanding why the candy is so popular is very easy. All you have to do is taste it. Combination of licorice with different ingredients is charming. It doesn’t necessarily need to be salty. Sweet or spicy combinations are just as good.
During the second week we were lucky and visited the second biggest Tredu campus on the other side of the city where we had lunch in a restaurant run by students as a practice. We all agreed that students responsible for the meals won’t have any trouble with getting a job. Food was well done, tasty and worth the price.
